Stan Bates

Independent Chairman

Stan Bates, BSc. (Mathematics), Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries, Australia, is the Chairman of the Board of Bakers Investment Group (Australia) Pty. Ltd.  Stan possesses extensive experience in Investment Management and Alternate Energy in senior executive roles at United Funds Management; Investment Strategy Manager, BHP; General Manager, State Superannuation Board of Victoria; National Distribution Manager, Equity Trustees; International Equities Adviser and Senior Manager Investments, Portfolio Partners.  Stan brings a wealth of experience gained over his extensive career in the areas of Investment and Funds Management.

 
 

Ross Paul

Managing Director

Ross Paul, B.A.(Admin), M.A.(Admin) PhD (Econ) is the Managing Director for Bakers Investment Group (Australia) Pty. Ltd.  Ross has extensive economic, financial and senior management experience in executive management gained at the World Bank in Washington DC where we worked for 17 years -- the last three years as Manager, Business Planning and Resource Allocation, managing the allocation process for the US$2bn corporate budget of the Bank, facilitating the alignment of corporate resources with institutional strategy to achieve key performance objectives. Prior to joining the World Bank, Ross was in the Senior Executive Service of the Australian Public Service, serving in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.

 

In 2008 Ross was a member of the Queensland Government's Smart State Council working group on "Attracting Investment into Queensland's Knowledge-Intensive Industries".

 

In September 2009 he was appointed to the Smart State Council, an advisory group to the Queensland Premier. The Smart State Council membership includes highly credentialed representatives from Queensland's business, academic and research communities, the Queensland Chief Scientist, the Premier, as Chair and four Government Ministers.

 

Ross brings extensive international finance experience at a senior level along with a passion for economic development and innovative business practice.

 

 

Jeremy Baker

Executive Director, Operations

Jeremy Baker, B.Com, Dip (FP), A.A.M.S. is the Executive Director, Operations for the Bakers Investment Group (Australia) Pty. Ltd. Jeremy possesses international experience having worked for leading American Investment Security firms AG Edwards and Sons Inc. and Fleet Bank Boston, working on economic research, company analysis, investment selection and financial structuring. Jeremy has extensive experience in quantitative and qualitative fundamental and technical equity analysis, portfolio management and investment strategy holding licenses and operating on exchanges including the ASX and NYSE. Jeremy brings a blend of knowledge in both international and domestic financial markets and a strong desire to see the continued success of Australasia as a primary location of interest for international investment.

 
 

Hector Manners

Executive Director, Finance

Hector Manners, Dip (International Bus. Mgt) has worked in the financial services sector in Australia for more than 10 years.  Previously, Hector held senior management roles in industry, especially in manufacturing having experience in small, medium and large organizations.  Hector was an adviser to Hon. John Moore during his term as Federal Minister for Industry, Science and Tourism and has advised government on economic development, trade and small business policy. Further, he has worked as an export manager overseeing the distribution of technology in 68 countries with specific expertise in the Americas.  Hector brings Bakers a solid understanding of company operations and corporate finance, especially with respect to SMEs, export operations and environmental technologies.

   
 

Lisa Lombardi

General Counsel & Director, Sustainability and Consulting

Lisa Lombardi, B.A., B.Sc., M.F.A., J.D. has extensive experience in environmental regulation, environmental impact assessment, and due diligence processes for resource companies. Lisa is a member of:

Prior to joining Bakers Lisa was General Counsel for Golder Associates in the Asia-Pacific region.  Her experience includes serving as the national Indigenous Land Use Agreement program coordinator for the AU National Native Title Tribunal, and a variety of experiences in environmental and water law in Australia, the Asia-Pacific region, and the US, including serving as the judge’s associate at the Snake River Basin Adjudication Court. Lisa is widely published in the area of legal issues in resource management. 

   
 

Ian McPherson

Non-Executive Director

Ian McPherson B.Com, Dip (FP) is a non-executive director of the Board Bakers Investment Group (Australia) Pty. Ltd. Ian has extensive management experience having spent the last 27 years specialising primarily in the areas of funds management and superannuation holding senior management roles both in Australia and overseas for National Australia and Metway Banks, Challenger International and the Colonial Group insurance joint venture in Hong Kong and SE Asia. He was also Chief Investment Officer of the $1.5 Billion, Queensland Electricity Superannuation Board.
